  • 2020 AAG VIRTUAL ART SHOW

In 1976, the Addison Art Guild was formed for the purpose of furnishing the community of Addison, IL, and the surrounding area with an institution that would advance the development of the fine arts as an integral part of community life.

The Addison Art Guild is 40 years old and welcomes new members, visitors and supporters of the visual arts to join.
The AAG meets on the second Thursday of every month from September through May at 7:30 p.m. in rooms 1301 A & B at Addison Village Hall, located at One Friendship Plaza, Addison, IL, 60101. At 7:30 p.m., the meeting/program begins, featuring a lecture, demonstration or workshop by a professional artist. Workshops are scheduled throughout the year, and there are juried members' exhibits in the fall and spring.

EVENT: Rick Sajewich, Pastels on Velour Paper | April 13

The  Addison Art Guild will meet on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Addison Center for the  Arts at Addison Trail High School, door #4, at 7:30 p.m. The guest artist will be Rick Sajewich, who will present a pastel painting demonstration. Guests are welcome. Below is a quote by Sajewich.

I am primarily a pastel painter of nature and animals, both domestic and wild. The pastel medium has always been a favorite means to convey animals and their feelings and moods. It allows me to realistically portray an animal or a study of nature.
When people see my work, I would like them to think that the animal is actually expressing an individual feeling. Being able to express an individual feeling and the personality of an animal is a huge and wonderful challenge never to be fully conquered, difficult to achieve but always worth the effort.

My current paintings are much more refined than those created years ago. They are painted with the use of many more varieties of pastel than the 18 stick starter set I began with, and the painting surfaces used are more advanced. While pursuing a non-art career for 30 years, I only kept in touch with working with pastel, but now that I am retired I, have a new dedication and love (and time) for sharing completed pet/animal portraits and scenes.

EVENT: Capturing the Light in Painting (Oils and Acrylics) with Marge Hall | May 20, 201

Along with her eye popping exhibit, "Nature's Beauty," at the ACA gallery, Marge Hall will also be conducting a workshop on May 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Addison Trail High School in room 140. She will teach painting techniques and how to "capture the light." Anyone interested in attending this workshop may contact Annette Leiber by phone at 630-250-9407 or through email at annettelei@comcast.net. This workshop is brought to the community through the Addison Art Guild in collaboration with the ACA.

Marge Hall is a floral portrait artist, designer and an award-winning artist and teaches at the DuPage Art League in Wheaton. This nationally recognized artist has discovered her own vocabulary based on a pallet that combines elements of strong but almost mystical light with drama and photo-like realism. She has created a body of work that is bold and dramatic yet sensitive and intimate. Her vibrant color and luscious textures capture the spiritual qualities of each petal she paints. During her "Capturing the Light" workshop on May 20, 2017, Hall will give a demonstration followed by a hands-on experience. She will have a photo available that everyone can use for reference, or you can use your own photo. You can work in oil or acrylic paints. See here for more information, including the supply list, pricing information and the registration form.
