Our Future
The Addison Center for the Arts has a special role in our community by providing a cultural base along with unique educational benefits. Regardless of gender, cultural background, abilities, aspirations, or interests, people of all ages should have the opportunity to participate in the arts.
Why is educating in the Arts important?
Arts education creates knowledge, meaning and skills. It represents unique forms of knowing and ways of thinking while fostering the capacities for critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and appreciating other cultures. It nourishes imagination and creativity.
How can the Addison Center for the Arts help build a stronger community?
We are incorporating all forms of the arts into our programming that enhance the cultural offerings that benefit our residents and reinforce our sense of family in Addison and the neighboring communities. We are focusing on education as a way to expand knowledge and understanding to our students through the school programs, after school activities and classes, opportunities to perform and the offering of unique cultural experiences that celebrate our cultural diversity.
In order to provide opportunities for growth and development of our students as well as create a chance to have family enjoyment, we will incorporate the following programs:
Theater ~ Visual Arts ~ Music ~ Dance ~ Literature
First Sunday Series
• Would incorporate a family entertainment format that would provide exposure to the theater, music, dance and visual arts on a monthly schedule.
• The experience of attending live performance in a theater space cannot be replicated in the classroom. For many, it could be their first time experiencing live performance. The educational aspects of the performance will allow individuals (both children and adults) to learn more about the disciplines of dance, music, and theater.
Multi Cultural Programs
• Addison has a socially and ethnically diverse population that can be supported and enhanced with the incorporation of programs that reinforce, compliment and celebrate the ethnic roots of our residents.
• Programs range from theater, ethnic dance companies, music ensembles and a variety of culturally diverse entertainment that not only represents our community's diversity but also provides educational history for others.

• Providing unique and original pieces of art created by local artists
• Traveling exhibits that would allow for the exchange of ideas through visual arts
Unique Programming
• Variety of entertainers are available to provide exposure to different disciplines in the art community. By hosting these programs, area residents can experience quality performances close to home.
• Lyric Opera, cultural theater, ethnic and regional music ensembles, Chamber ensembles, dance troupes from tap to ethnic, poetry and many more options for diverse experiences.
