​"2026 Expressions: Art & Verse" exhibition in collaboration with the Illinois State Poetry Society was on display at the ACA Gallery from March 27 through April 18. We were delighted to host this annual show for the 6th year in a row. The Gallery visitors enjoyed a gorgeous collection of digital photographs, woodblock relief prints, acrylic, oil, watercolor, mixed-media paintings, collages, and woodburning pieces that inspired the ISPS members to craft ekphrastic poems about each artwork.​

This year's featured artists were Roseanne Benson, Elizabeth Berry, Benjamin Calvert III, Susan Cargill, Peter Hagerty, Laura Kuhrau, Lisa Lucaccioni, Kathy McHenry, Tom Michalski, Iglika Milcheva-Godfrey, David Morris, Sharon O'Conor Sleezer, Iryna Shkrobach, Lori Szkodzinski, Lyn Tietz, and Carol Weber.

The Illinois State Poetry Society’s featured members were Carol Alfus, Rafael Antigua, Candace Armstrong, Marie Asner, Bakul Banerjee, Mary Beth Bretzlauf, Paul Bucheit, Hanh Chau, Michael Escoubas, Kathryn Haydon, M. E. Hope, Mark Hudson, Cielo Jones, Jill Langois, Rene Parks, Raj Shah, Joris Soeding, Jill Spealman, and R. M. Yager.

​The Addison Center for the Arts hosted its second Community Group Show that celebrated the talents and creativity of local visual artists. The exhibition featured the artworks by Anthony Alonzo, Roseanne Benson, Susan Cargill, Kate Diosdado, Peter Hagerty, Lisa Lucaccioni, Iryna Shkrobach, and Andrew Thies, as well as the paintings from the Bruce Peterson's Legacy Collection, available at discounted prices. The Community Group Show was on display from February 13 through March 14, 2026, with the artists' reception on February 14.

The Addison Center for the Arts was delighted to host the Addison Art Guild's 2025 Fall Members' Show, which was on display at the ACA Gallery from November 21 through December 13, 2025. The show's featured artists were Margaret Bucholz, Susan Cargill, John Keeley, Lisa Lucaccioni, Julie Mars, Ann O'Brien, Jackie Pickell, Carol Severson, and Lyn Tietz. 

The Addison Art Guild was formed in 1976 for the purpose of advancing the study of the fine arts as an integral part of community life. The AAG meets on the second Wednesday of every month from September through May and always welcomes new members. The Addison Center for the Arts was excited to host "Abstraction" by an award-winning artist Joan Ladendorf. Her solo exhibition, featuring a wide variety of mixed-media work, was on display at the ACA Gallery from October 11 through November 8, 2025. 

Joan Ladendorf is a self-taught artist who has been exploring a variety of media and subject matter on her artistic journey over the past forty-odd years. At the heart of it all is color and shape. This “Abstraction” show was a celebration of those qualities without anything recognizable getting in the way.

Joan began with theatre costuming and graphic design, then progressed through traditional quilt making and various art quilt techniques and styles. She then developed an innovative technique using cotton batik fabrics hand cut with scissors and assembled with a sheet of mounting adhesive.

Joan then returned to photography, a place she had visited before, back in the old days of film and darkrooms, but the digital offered so much more. She focused on local sites, collecting thousands of images from her backyard creek, auto junkyards, the Chicago Botanic Garden, Spring Valley Nature Center, the Illinois Railway Museum and many other great facilities. She used her collection originally as stand-alone images but quickly moved into using Photoshop’s layering capabilities to create composite work.

Currently, she is creating what she likes to call “Photo Collage,” imagery made from pieces and part of her photographic collection of textures and landscapes. Hand-painted and hand-altered repurposed papers are scanned and used as ingredients as well.

​Joan’s work has been featured in area galleries since 2005, and she has participated in juried fine art shows for many years, winning multiple awards. Learn more about the artist here.

The Addison Center for the Arts was delighted to host "Layered Narratives", a collage show by the Midwest Collage Society. The exhibition graced the Addison Center for the Arts Gallery from September 12 through October 4, 2025 and featured the artworks by the MCS’s members Carol Weber, Robin Trew, Ross Rolando, Julie Marshall, Janice Meister, Marie Cassidy, Nancy Staszak, Nancy Castner, Andrea Fox, Margi Hafer, Joan Petranovich, Joan Lucht, Laura Lein-Svencner, and Mary Yezek. 

About the Midwest Collage Society
The Midwest Collage Society (MCS) has been promoting collage as a fine art for more than 20 years. Founded in 2003, it has 52 members with the backgrounds ranging from graduate training in the fine arts to the self-taught. The MCS’s members are professional artists from Illinois and its neighboring states.

The Illinois State Poetry Society’s featured members were Marie Asner, Bakul Banerjee, Mary Beth Bretzlauf, Hanh Chau, Thomas Chockley, Gail Denham, Kathryn Haydon, M.E. Hope, Mark Hudson, Marilyn Huntman Giese, Kate Hutchinson, Emory Jones, Rafael Lantigua Medina, Lennart Lundh, Wilda Morris, Rene Parks, Judy SooHoo, Nancy Staszak, Jim Wilkerson, and R.M Yager. 

The show was on display at the ACA Gallery through April 19, 2025.

The Addison Center for the Arts was pleased to host its first Community Group Show, celebrating the talents of local visual artists. The show featured acrylic, watercolor, oil paintings, photographs, digital photo collages, and prints by local artists Roseanne Benson, Susan Cargill, Kate Diosdado, Michael Hogan, Joan Ladendorf, Yee Lee, Lisa Lucaccioni, Ann O’Brien, Carol Severson, Andrew Thies, Amanda Thomas, and Lyn Tietz.

The Community Group Show was on display from February 22 through March 19, 2025.

We were excited to announce "Splendor of Colors", a show by an Addison-based artist Anthony Alonzo. His solo exhibition was on display at the Addison Center for the Arts Gallery from January 11 through February 15, 2025. The artist's opening reception was on January 11.

Anthony Alonzo is an award-winning artist whose works have been displayed in several local, regional, and national exhibitions. He has received numerous awards, including several Best of Show. Anthony is best known for his rich, vibrant colors and creative depiction of the subject. Design is carefully considered, and each painting is unique.

Alonzo pursued an art education and obtained a degree from The American Academy of Art. Anthony credits The American Academy of Art for having the most significant impact on the development of his unique artistic style. Quality design, originality, luminosity, and intensity of color are the hallmarks he strives to attain.

In his show, Alonzo invited us to explore his collection of artworks, depicting the presidents in honor of the 2024 United States Presidential Election, as well as a beautiful collection of birds. By pairing these two very different subjects, the artist wished to contrast the tension of the political climate with the serenity we could find in the birds.

I would like to acknowledge the Addison Center for the Arts and their amazing staff who were so helpful through the whole process and made my vision come true. The Addison Art Guild’s 2024 Fall Members’ Show ran from November 13 through December 13, 2024, at the Addison Center for the Arts Gallery. Free and open to the public, the artists’ reception was held on November 14. It included a critique by a judge Carol Weber who is an artist, curator, and educator from Downers Grove, IL as well as live music by a Wheaton-based musician Joe Eddy Brown and his band.

The Addison Art Guild was established in 1976 with the purpose of advancing the development of the fine arts as an integral part of community life. Since then, it has been an annual event, showcasing art, created by AAG’s members who use a wide range of art mediums. This year’s Addison Art Guild’s Members’ Show featured a variety of artworks, from embroidery to paintings by Susan Cargill, Bernice Murphy, Tania Blanco, Margherita Bernardi-Trahan, Carol Severson, Taiwo Owoniyi, Lisa Lucaccioni, Ann O’Brien, Annette Perone Leiber, Margaret Bucholz, Lyn Tietz, Vera Zaccariello, Adrienne Curiale, and Carol Davy. The Addison Art Guild always welcomes new members, visitors, and supporters of the visual arts to join.
